Juvenile justice system fails some American teens

The United States Supreme Court is considering changing its laws for juvenile criminals. Right now the U.S. is one of the only countries where juveniles can be given a life sentence without the chance of parole if they're convicted of certain crimes. Many non-profit groups like the Juvenile Justice Project of Louisiana say that conditions in juvenile detention centers in the U.S. are horrendous and don't help juvenile offenders get better. Louisiana has the highest number of kids getting locked up in the country, most are poor and black.

@MalikHussein8 Strongly disagree. The African American community has the mentality that they have given up. It should be perfectly clear from this video that out side help is not available. The African American people won't have help until they help themselves. A teacher of mines taught me to say a big "F" you, is to prove everyone wrong who thought ill of you.

@teretung Is this reporter racist? Really? The reporter is reporting facts. The number of poor, black, juvenile offenders in the system far outweighs the numbers of white, hispanic, asian, etc. offenders. Stop feeding into this modern mentality of playing the race card at the drop of a hat. Not to mention, the report is out of New Orleans where the black population is higher than most other ethnic groups. If we cannot see the facts we cannot solve the problem.
