A bit rushed and untidy in parts!

Sir Clifford was certainly one of the greatest musicians ever to play the piano, and his recordings are the final word on musicianship, taste. elegance, beauty and soul.Live, however, he could be a holy terror. I heard him play Brahms #2 in Boston when I was still a student, and he blew the roof off Symphony Hall. I don't think I have ever heard that piece played more virtuosically, yet so unspeakably musical and poignant. One of the all-time greats.

Right up there with the very best versions.TY RabidCh for posting.

WOW!!!
Curzon, in "live" performance could be "a horse of a different color". Fieirier, faster, sparks flying, and notes falling wherever they may (ala Cortot).
For well over 40 years, Curzon's studio recording has been my all-time favorite (probably along with Arrau's).
I think I like this even more, slop and all. Thanks, RC.

I like this more, but I also feel that it is *certainly* not better, if you understand. It's just a bit interesting Curzon could play like this and then make a completely opposite recording in studio 2 years later. I wonder if this performance was on his mind...
