Join the Class Action lawsuit against Wachovia Bank. Also, support H.R. 1456 pending in Congress that will stop this abusive overdraft protection.

Wachovia bank has implemented a re-sequencing scheme to increase its profits via overdraft fees to the detriment of consumers.

  • USBANK DOES THIS ( Make the $1000 go through then give you 3 overdrafts )

  • There are several class action lawsuits against banks right now for overdraft fees- go onto bank class actions dot com or just type overdraft fee lawsuits or bank class action lawsuits into your search engine. There will be several links to choose from as there are so many lawsuits pending on this right now- until we fight back by hitting their bottom line, they will continue to do this crap.

  • is there a website to file as part of this lawsuit?

  • @jb0177 I asked them the same question! I did get all my money refunded but not before jumping through hoops! I started doing a print screen of my account just in case. I still have my Wachovia account open but I have all my money in Regions now. They charge highest to lowest too but they have never given me a fake available balance or held cash deposits in order to collect NSF fees. Wachovia/Wells Fargo are probably the BIGGEST crooks in banking.

  • @donnely138

???How could they charge you before you bought it???

  • I certainly don't put cash in the bank just for them to find some sneaky way to steal it.

Best bet is to stop using banks. What do you need them for anyway?

  • @WilliamRAlford

    I agree with you 100%.

But the banks are running another scam where they clear all debits BEFORE clearing deposits made to your account on the same business day. I got ripped off before like that. I made a CASH deposit one day and then purchased several things, thinking it would be covered.

Lo and behold, I was charged with over $100 in overdraft fees the next day. When I called to complain, they wouldn't reverse the fees due to their "debits first" policy.

    Bunch of CROOKS!

  • Those who have poor credit and/or low incomes likely will not have credit cards and will thus be more vulnerable to these kinds of overdraft fees. They will also be more devastated as a cascading set of overdrafts kick in.

If someone writes a check or makes a debit transaction and there are insufficient funds, the transaction should simply be declined just as it is with a credit card. It is no skin off of the banks' asses to do it this way.

I'm a libertarian and support this bill.

  • I closed my checking account with Wachovia 6-8 months ago, never hearing from them again... UNTIL.... Today, living on the other side of the world, I find out that my CURRENT bank's checking account has a lien against it from Wachovia bank.

-I never was notified by Wachovia in any way until this incident, and I can't get my tax return check deposited to pay for my plane ticket back to the U.S.

CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNTS with Wachovia, please... for those of us who have been abused by this organiztion
