Another video of my Electronics install is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edCooUVLxuM

I modified my S34C. It's been a great project and learning experience.

I did a number of things. First and right out of the box, I pulled off

the pick guard to ensure the maximum resonance. Then I installed a

jjb-electronics dual-piezo transducer pickup under the bridge and

installed the tone and volume knobs that came with.

I ordered the End-Pin Jack configuration which was $8 more but worth

it. However I had to get an Endpin Jack Wrench from Stewart-Macdonald

for $25 (stewmac.com) to get it tight. But it was fun drilling holes in

a guitar; plus I've used it on a few other guitars since. I then

ordered rosewood knobs to match the bridge and fret board. www.guitarpartsresource.com

It looks like it was meant to be. I oiled the whole guitar down (body

and fretboard - front and back) with Dr. Duck's AxeWax to make sure the

wood was in the best condition it could be in. Then I did the set up

with help from www.greatnutshells.com. Awesome help. Thanks Kip! I

bought the "Setup Your Takamine" DVD from Musicians Friend for $20.

Then the fun part.

I ordered the TUSQ Acoustic Supercharger Kit A (because it's the one

that fits) which offers an unparalelled performance in nuts, saddles and bridgepins.

The sustain is a noticable upgrade. To complete the project, I installed a TUSQ Nut. The Gibson Slotted Nut fits.

This has been my project. It has been a fantastic learning experience

and I am closer to my Jasmine S34C than even my Takamine EAN40c Which

is my pro axe. I feel closer to it because I did the mods. I would say it is a good

way to go if you want to buy an axe that won't break the bank and you

desire setup experience for a lifetimes worth of guitar playing. Why pay

some other guy??

God Bless!!!

Scott

P.S. I just installed a Guitar Port. more louder, more better,
way more focused.

  • Great video. I'm a beginner guitar player and I'm trying to decide between this Jasmine and the Epiphone DR-100, but I'm wondering if this Jasmine is a solid top or a "select Spruce" (laminate) top like the Epiphone? Also, what do you think of the NEX style? Thanks.

  • @ojibwayinca I love the NEX style as you can see in this video. The Jasmine is not a solid top... but no entry-level guitar will be. If you are a beginer, there is no way you will be able to tell the difference. It takes an aged ear to notice a solid top from a laminate. So no worrys. Get the guitar and play, man!

  • I just got mine a month ago and i LOVE it! What did u do to lower the action. Mine is a bit high

  • @guysanzo Well, I bought that dvd I show in this video that shows how to do a setup. I don't recommend playing with the truss rod without knowing what you're doing. The instruction is clear and quite easy to follow and it is great knowledge to have for understanding and caring for your instrument for a lifetime.

  • Hey man looks great. I have one one the way to my house. Can you tell me how you take the pick guard off in detail please? is there any adhesive that will be left on the wood?

  • @guysanzo Thanks! The pick guard came off very easily and left no glue. It's more of a sticker I think.

  • @eternalrhythmflow Thanks!

  • Very cool. I am getting my first guitar for my birthday and I have decided to get this one because I dont want to spend too much money and disappoint my parents. Thanks for the awesome review ! I loved this..

  • @Bltprf502 Thank you! That is a Kari Jobe song that I covered. I brought the vocals down and the guitars up for the JJB wesite video. The true mix of my cover is here.
