Epic French movie LES UNS ET LES AUTRES (entitled BOLERO in English; not to be confused with BOLERO the Bo Derek film!)

The narrator says the characters in the film really existed, and lists the actors (including James Caan and Geraldine Chaplin as Americans). The story then flashes back to Soviet Russia in 1936, where a committee was to choose the lead dancer of the Bolshoi ballet to dance "Bolero". Characters from Russia, America, France and Germany are profoundly affected by WWII.
