I remember back when I was on punishment (often really) my mom tried to lock the computer with the case lock so I couldn't used it. A pen and a hair pin did the trick. That's when I was twelve. Now I know how thieves are having a field day in NYC. Pathetic on the manufacturer's part

the new Kryptonite and Onguard ulocks dont use the round key anymore. they use a weird looking flat key but its not like a house key

@nauctube, good news then. I know the one you mean, it's an Abloy style key and they are pretty good, well outside the ability of your average bike theif to pick.

Oh yeah its not going to stop ALL attackers, but it's more likley to put off the chancers who just so happen to be walking down your street with some bolt snippers.
Unfortunatly, for those of us who have saught after bikes, you find people usually go out of their way to steal it.
What i've done is two disk locks on each side of the break pads (So the wheel dosnt move at all) a heavy duty chain around the front wheel and the bike frame, and thru a floor anchor.

How heavy duty? I'm not trying to flog you an Almax, iy just seems that you have made the effort to secure your bike properly, it would be a shame to be let down by it. for what it's worth, the only disc lock that I have any respect for at all is the Motrax Vishas, all the other lock type disc locks are easily croppable. You've made alot more effort than many.

When you lock your bike especially with a chain, make sure the chain is as high off the ground as possable, so the dirty chavs cant use the ground+body weight to leverage the bolt croppers.

That's generally good practice to avoid hammer attacks but sadly it won't make cropping any harder unless it's over 2ft from the floor. Since making the Almax vid, I have changed my style to 'off the floor' and it's much easier. Only way to make sure your chain isn't cropped is to get a chain that CAN'T be cropped. Good advice though, thanks.
