This is the first movement of Vivaldi's (Venice, March 4, 1678 -- Vienna, July 28, 1741) famous concerto grosso no. 8 in A minor, RV 522. The twelve concerti form the collection "L'estro Armonico" (Harmonic Inspiration). Depending on the source it is given as Andante or Allegro.
The performing orchestra is one my favourites: I Solisti di Zagreb, a chamber orchestra founded in 1953, in Zagreb, Croatia (Former Yugoslavia), by the great Italian cellist and pedagogue Antonio Janigro. The CD's title is "Famous Concertos: Vivaldi" and the label is Point Classics. It is a pure gem! In this case the Solisti di Zagreb have nothing to be jealous about, compared to more well-known orchestras. I therefore strongly recommend it. Enjoy!

  • One video that sounds normal!! THANK YOU!!

This actually sounds like it does when my group plays it!

  • @Mercer1012 Well, while I'll agree with you on technicality, I still find it nice to have stumbled upon one version that sounds relatively close to my groups level of playing it. :)

Wrong tempo or not, it's still the same song as long as you get the rhythm together right.

  • @NightCreature5647 It actually sounds quite slow to be honest. This movement is supposed to be in Allegro, not Andante. And I do have a facsimile of Vivaldi's actual published score from 1711 when this piece was published. It clearly says "Allegro." So this is played too slow. And even if they played correctly at Andante (90 BPM) then they are playing too fast. So either way they are playing at the wrong tempo.

  • grazie AndreasSminthis: che "maraviglia" Vivaldi, oltre alle note stupende, ci regala il dubbio fra due strade angeliche: "andante" o "allegro" ?.......

  • WOW

  • Great. Love it.

  • how come youve written andante instead of allegro? anyway it is still i nice performance.
