Trolleybus on Route 102 has a section of its route where no overhead wires are installed. As a result, the trolleybuses lower their poles and ply this section of the route using power from its onboard batteries. The bus in this video is made in Shanghai with trolley poles retrofitted with pneumatic devices designed for automatic lowering and raising of poles.
Taiyuan is a prefecture-level city and the capital of Shanxi province, China. It has a population of 3.4 million and currently has 5 trolleybus routes numbering from Route No. 101 to 105. To many chinese trolleybus fans, the city is known as the "trolleybus meseum" of China as the city has been acquiring its rolling stock of different types from cities all over China, including those made in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and Wuhan, etc.
Hope you enjoy this short clip!
@Myrtone True enough. They could also be hybrid or have a genset for wireless sections.

@isomolle In that case, could it also provide a non-fixed route service? If trolleybusses can have any off-wire range, I see no reason why they should necessarily follow fixed routes.

Must be only short distance or high-capacity batteries, as usually the batteries are only for emergency use.
