We have filmed our pet rat nodding her head to the music of Will Smith from Men in Black. I think she dances pretty well and could be a world famous rapper and audition for X Factor soon... what do you think? She actually nods her head to create a moving image of the world so she can see in 3D which is hard for her because of her pink eyes which are much less able to pick out light that the black eyes of her friend Pheobe, who is a hooded rat. Not just rats but all animals actively control their experiences in various ways - they don't just 'respond to stimuli' as is often suggested by psychologists. No, they do things because they have a real purpose in life! Anyway, don't just take my word for it... take a look at Remy in action....

@pippy1994 Agreed, it is a myth. I know this because I have an aunt who is small animal specialist vet and I just now asked her lol. And wow I had no idea guinea pigs live so long! That is awesome!

@GhostOfRockyHorror I've never had an albio rat so I wouldn't know for sure, it honestly sounds like a myth. I had a guinea pig with pink eyes and she lived for about 7 years which is around the average lifespan of a guinea pig.

I heard a myth that rats that are white with red eyes don't live for that long. Is that true? or do they have some type of heath defect?
