Approximately 7,000 high school students drop out every school day, which translates to one in three students. Once students make the decision to drop out, they lack the tools to compete in today's society and diminish their chances for greater success in the future. But the decision to drop out of school does not happen overnight; it comes after years of frustration and failure. Often, those that drop out have run out of motivation and have no source of support or encouragement in school or at home.

BoostUp is a high school dropout prevention campaign designed to support potential graduates at-risk of dropping out. The campaign hopes to encourage teens, parents and adult influencers to give struggling students in their own communities the boost (encouragement) they need to stay in school and graduate.

  • Only 70% of students who begin high school graduate -only about 52% in larger cities. Students who dropout do not live as long and earn less than high school graduates - only qualifying for 12% of available jobs with earnings usually under $18,500 a year. They are more likely to be teen parents, commit crime (80% of prisoners are dropouts), and rely on government assistance.

We need to support our youth encouraging them to stay in school and earn their diplomas.

  • How? There's no need to be so jumpy every time an African American is shown on the screen.

Sure he may be not be doing well, but many students struggle in school. This one just happens to be African American.

  • Urban life sure can be tough, especially when it comes to education and trying to make in this unforgiving global economy.

  • I was able to get my GED and go right into college, dropping out was the best decision I ever made.

  • @MultiRump Not anymore.

  • @iOlliei Bill Gates actually dropped out from University of Harvard. But his grades and SAT score are very impressive. But he returned to Harvard 4 years ago to get his honorary degree. He's a lucky man.

  • I happened to drop=out at the age of 17, school was so mundane - lacked substance. Went straight for my GED. Do I regret it? Not at all. I'm holding down a decent paying job & on top of that, I'm starting college in the fall.

  • I'm gonna drop out cuz ma teacher cuz I got no friends

  • Dropout rates may correlate to crime and unemployment rate. These people don't get enough education for their career. School is a place to discipline people, understanding justice, and learn life values. Please people, don't dropout from high school. If you did, take GED. If I met a person who dropped out before graduation and he/she didn't get GED, I will say, "Shame on you"

  • Heres how to stop ppl from dropping out of high school. tell them that if they do well and dont drop out they will go to collage. then they will get a good job get lots of money and eventually get as much ass as they want

  • @ghostyman666 What you consider "nice car"?
