The frontal cortex also play a central role in keeping track of settings (at the movies, at work, at home, in a hurry, going to a wedding, etc.) and interpreting them . This is why dreams can be so bizarre without you noticing until you wake up - the frontal cortex is largely inactive.

I totally agree. I think the difference between us and most other apes is the frontal cortex. I think monkeys (and, in fact, most other sentient creatures) operate 100% on a subconscious mode which they have very limited control over. I believe later down the evolutionary road, somehow, the brain developed yet another sector (the frontal lobe) who's sole purpose was to read and decipher the subconscious decisions to further improve their results. Then, since it was beneficial, it accelerated.
