61 people killed and many injured in Assam following serial blasts rock the state on Thursday morning(Oct 30). In Guwahati, two bombs exploded in Ganeshguri market, one blast near Kamrup district deputy commissioner's office,Panbazaar and another one in Fancy Market.The bombs that took place in Panbazar DC Court was planted in a Car. Altogether 31 people died in Guwahati.On the other hand 3 blast exploded in Kokrajhar in which more that 20 died and 53 injured, 3 blast exploded in Barpeta in which 13 people died and many injured and one in Bongaigaon in which 7 people injured. All the injured have been shifted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital, GNRC, Dispur Polyclinic Hospital. Following the blasts, which the police suspect to be the handiwork of the banned ULFA and HUJI extremists, a red alert was sounded across the state. Later, curfew was imposed immediately after blast in Guwahati after angry crowds attack ambulances and fire engines. Curfew was lifted in the evenning. Angry mob also assulted News Live cameraperson and Reporter covering the blast site. Assam government too appeared to go along the police line.Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shivraj Patil condemned the blasts. Minister of State for Home Shakeel Ahmed said there was no intelligence failure. However, Leader of Opposition L K Advani charged that the UPA for their failure and suspects that it is a handiwork of Bangladeshi militants. PM is expected to visit Assam on Saturday. The Union Home Ministry is seeking an immediate report from the Assam government on the serial blasts. Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta spoke to Assam Chief Secretary to find out the details of the incidents.
