  • ugg ive been trying to convert for over a month. my budgie refuses to eat pellets

  • @OneLittleWagtail of all birds, Budgies can be notoriously difficult to convert from seed to pellets. For some more information, please email us here ben@vetafarm.com.au and we can discuss some options with you.

  • Hello i have a cockatiel which is around 6 months old. My problem is that it refuses to eat vegetables. It only eats pellets and seeds. please help i really care for her health..

  • @sangam061289 Try introducing some darker red or green vegetables, such as chilli or bell peppers. These darker vegetables generally are more attractive to a bird and also contain more nutrients as a general rule. The main concern however will be the ratio of seed in the diet to pellets, as birds will receive the majority of their nutrition from their dry diet. For the best balance, we recommend a combination of 80% pellets and 20% seed. Fruit and Vegetables should be offered freely.

  • As for a response to these methods, I completely forgot I used this method to get my cockatiels to switch to pellets. I've been trying for about a week to switch my budgie, I suppose I'll give it a try and see what happens.

  • Are grains healthier than seeds? I didn't know that. Not that it really matters to me anyways, I don't care if my animal is eating something "unnatural". What matters to me is if they're getting proper nutrition. I really find it hypocritical when someone uses the "unnatural" argument with birds. Cuz 99% of the time, the same people feed their dogs or cats food out of a bag, and that's not their "natural" diet.

  • there are other ways to keep your bird healthy one shock to people would be that budgies are not NATURALLY seed eaters they are GRAIN eaters. start your budgie on grains and you will se a HUGE improvement on there health

  • i have converted my canaries onto red factor food, but my gouldians still refuse to eat,i have tried all these ways, still no

  • It was EASY for me to get my birds switched over. I have Zebras, Gouldians, Budgies & Parakeets. I just followed the technique (I hadn't even seen this video, it's just the same method I used.) I still give them a TREAT of seeds each day but their mainstay is pellets (per type bird).

  • Awesome work guys! Regards Nikki (Bird Boarding)
