This was my first real ride on Maia. I had sat on her a few times (just for a second or two) and then Catherine led me around on her once. I started out the ride in a halter, then switched to the cordeo by the end. She was lovely -- walk, stop, back, turn (kind of :) ), and jambette.

  • It's great to see someone else starting right off in a cordeo! It's hard but it's got to make you proud :)

  • Thank you! It is a fun challenge and adventure, and you're right -- very rewarding. :)

  • Thanks so much, Steph!! Soon we'll be trail riding together -- you on your beautiful new horse, and me on mine!

  • @jmercikehh Thank you for the suggestions! At that moment, I wasn't sure that she would see petting as a really good reward, and because I wanted to reward her in a way she understood, I felt like food was the best way to make her feel right. But I like phasing it out when I can!

And don't worry, your English is great. :)

  • great job.But why are you give her candy when you are on her..?

I think she'll do everything what you want without candy..

The real partnership is not based on the candys.

But great horse ,she learn so fast

sorry my bad english, hope you understand me =S

  • soooooo pretty

  • Wonderful! Thank You!

  • Hannah, I am so impressed and proud of you!

  • hey this is so great. well done!!! i am working with five three year olds at the moment, and i am just about at the point of sitting on. it sounds like you do exactly what i do. i like to have someone lead the first few steps to re-assure the horse too, and isnt it amazing how soft they are when you teach them at a whisper. people really ruin horses by "breaking" them. well done, i love your work!!!

  • HEY! Looking AMAZING! Shes so gorgeous and u, my dear girl, WHAT A TRAINER! there is no home better for that mare than right with you! Keep up the AMAZING work, Steph
