Panera is about creating the kind of food we would want to serve to our families. We bake fresh bread, use fresh ingredients and serve it to you in an environment that helps you relax.

Panera Founder Ron Shaich talks about Making Today Better: a belief that you should leave Panera feeling better than when you came in.

His promise of a "real" place with "real" food is such a joke. A place that has to tell you how real it is is NOT real. A real place also wouldn't have banners all over its store with catchy phrases like "A belief in Better" or "Savor Summer." I dont know why it annoys me so much but it does. I dont necessarily have anything against chain restaurants but when the CEOs in their fancy offices decide their pitch will be to convince us how real a place is I feel like the world is so fake.

I doubt the company did anything, maybe one cafe did. I can't stand how little hours I get, I get swamped with too much work and others slack, I cover so many shifts but not many cover mine, I get irritated and clock out and go home. But just because I don't like what some people do here doesn't mean I'm going to deny that the food is good, it's a franchise anyway. I won't blame the founders for the poor decisions of my own management, the food is good and better off than their competition.

Sounds to me that the CEO invests more in the quality of his company than how much money he rakes in from it. I don't think how much money a company makes should affect whether you eat there or not, they don't bake bread with 20 dollar bills.

That would make him co-founder of Panera Bread, the merger of St. Louis Bread Company and Au Bon Pan.
