In celebration of The Color Purple's 25th Anniversary, Atlanta Film Festival 365 will present a special screening of this enduring film Sunday, November 14 at The Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University.

In attendance for a pre-screening Q&A and VIP reception will be Willard E. Pugh who played Harpo and Margaret Avery, who received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her portrayal of Shug. Moderating the Q&A will be Peachtree TV On-air Host and Executive Director of Community Affairs Jeff "JJ" Johnson.

Released in 1985, Steven Spielberg's film version of the Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Color Purple earned $98 million at the box office and garnered 11 Academy Award Nominations. Critically acclaimed, the film earned Whoopi Goldberg, in her feature film debut, a Golden Globe for Best Actress and Spielberg his first Best Director award from the Directors Guild of America. Also featuring the film debut of Oprah Winfrey, the film has become an American cinema classic that continues to resonate with old and new audiences, including making AFI's 100 Years...100 Cheers list of most inspiring films in 2006.
