Yoshi's Island for the SNES is one of my favorite games of all time. Everything about it is so creative (from the art to the gameplay to the music)... In fact, it was after reading this one issue of Nintendo Power that featured an article on Shigeru Miyamoto and Yoshi's Island that it became my dream to work in the video game industry...
This is my improvisation of the game's ending theme. It was composed by Koji Kondo, and it's very beautiful... I'm embarassed to admit that I got tears in my eyes at the very end of the game where the Super Mario Bros. "level completed" riff is worked into the composition as Mario's parents hold the twins up after being rescued... so beautiful ^_^

I think this is my favorite ending theme for any game I've played. Or at least a tie with Portal 1.

I find the "level clear" riff the most beatiful part of the song. Koji Kondo knows how to make the best ending songs of the history.

@MrGudtavosky I LOVE how he put the "level clear" riff at the end! I love how it plays right as the parents are holding up baby Mario and Luigi, as if to remind us of the era that has passed (but is yet to begin at the end of Yoshi's Island, since the game is essentially a prequel). Koji Kondo is awesome.

There's always been something about this song you played that feels like it's the first time I've heard it every single time I hear it. I listen to the soundtrack monthly if not weekly. The big boss battle is so intense!

@LeMaitreDeSorts Ah, I'm glad you mentioned FF6's opening theme... I'm actually doing a collaboration with my friend for that one (her youtube name is gbritaney and she's an incredibly talented violinist who also really likes video game music)! I recorded the piano for it right before I recorded this video :)
