Holy mother of god. I thought I was good with Photoshop. This makes my skill in PS look more usless than nipples on a male dog.

@maxrambaldi To be honest if you were an artist you would know no matter what you create you need some sort of reference I you want it to be high detail/ believable. You Don't for cartoons because they're low detail, but for portraiture you need one. Drawing from life is basically the same thing as drawing from a photograph, drawing what you see , and letting your mind influence it. Don't under appreciate the amount of talent and skill needed to do what he and a lot other artists do

Stunning work!

Really well done. Offbeat comment: that lady has a rather large forehead.

@maxrambaldi but there aren't many original painters who have this kind of detail and style in their work. A lot of original painters use references or they'll cut and paste scanned textures directly into their work, which has no merit at all.
I don't think you can take anything away from this painting at all. And you should also note it's all done for a very detailed tutorial and is the best beginner tutorial I've seen.

@wadehjb honestly i find more difficult inventing shapes and lights, or at least i need less than half the time for copying a complex image than creating a new (even if enough simple)..

@lovebirds360 its called a preview. And in the DVD it does teach you how to paint. VERY worth it.

Omg you even made the hair look real.
ok but this is isn't difficult like painting a completely original image.. this is the copy of a photo... absolutely well done, but a copy--

@maxrambaldi the hardest part of copying a photo is that it gives you no leeway. The slightest mistake and the whole thing looks wrong, whereas if you're creating your own image you can go off on tangents and have more freedom...which is definitely more fun too.
That said, I find a lot of what I learn from copying photos can be applied to my own concepts.

WOW! That was amazing, you have some FANTASTIC talent there! I actually found your page from a comment you made about 'not being able to find work when you can do this type of thing with your eyes closed' or something along those lines.
I'm sure when you do find work, you'll be HIGHLY PAID and RESPECTED!
Peace xxx

Thank you for taking a look at my vid and for the kind comment! It means a lot to hear that.
Maybe one day I'll find a career where this stuff is put to good use. :)

It's called "Illusion" by Cyrus the Virus. If you like this style, I'd urge you to check out any older Goa or Psy trance.
