Actually, you do not know. I've been over there each year for last three years, L'viv and surrounding cities/towns. Poverty like everywhere else you can see.

the music is distracting and too loud. Otherwise -- great videos

Oh that's nice. I know in Ukraine there is much poverty!

Thanks for the tour! Not to be too nosy, but how did you afford a water heater on a Peace Corp budget?

@hppavilionf50 Peace Corps Ukraine gives volunteers a one-time moving-in stipend and a monthly living stipend comparable to what the average Ukrainian earns. It was a slight splurge for us, but a great investment. As volunteers, we never supplemented our lifestyle with our personal savings. When we left this apartment we were able to give this water heater to a young family living with no hot water and a new born.

We are still in Ukraine, but just for a few more months. My wife works at a school teaching healthy lifestyles and running clubs. She helped create a fitness center for students there. I work with NGOs in town, offering assistance in various capacities and helping with project design and management. I also lead a weekly English club for adults.

How is it that you were to upgrade your flat...with water heater...do you own the flat?

We did not own this apartment. When we moved in there was no hot water, so we decided to buy a water heater. When we moved out we uninstalled the water heater (and patched the walls) and were able to give it to a family with a small child that was living without hot water.
