I usually don't mind having steam, but it pissed me off to no end when my internet went out for 3 days. Whenever I tried to go on offline mode it would say it couldn't find a connection. COULDN'T FIND A FUCKING CONNECTION FOR OFFLINE MODE. Only way to get around this is to keep steam and your computer on constantly, then go into offline mode while you still have internet, then make sure steam doesn't close for any reason until your internet is back. Or you could crack all your games.

Listen, your missing the bleeding point, it's not a question of if it's restrictive or not, it's the fact that it's still DRM and that Valve allows developers to also tack on whatever extra pointless DRM like Targes and the like, on top of Steam which Valve could easly put there foot down about since there the largest Digital store out there. But that's besides the point, which is there are many of us who don't want any DRM yeah? So GOG is just saying hey don't want DRM then come here and shop.

This was very true in the late 80's on the C64.

Well, that's all we ever legally owned. It's just that games had to be delivered physically to the consumer in the past, meaning we had an object with a resale value that we were never legally entitled to.

That's why we always love you GoG, you respect your customers and gives them freedom, unlike that piece of shit steam and valve. GoG will always be the no.1 game site for me!

Thanks GoG you're all we have left. The problem with steam and origin is the DRM people will always crack games and software and nothing can be done about it, The people who only torrent stuff are not your customers and never we're. DRM only affects the legitimate end user who payed for your game's. what's it going to take for publishers to realise this.

    I agree.

In my opinion, DRM 'promotes' piracy in one way or other, instead of stopping it. DRM cannot stop pirates, but they do help in annoying the legitimate customer, thus turning him into a pirate.

By far the worst example is the Batman games, or at least one of them. Steamworks wasn't good enough, so they also require not only GFWL but ALSO have SecuROM on top of it, complete with limited installations! Jack Thompson would literally make for a better person to hire to make decisions for your game company than the jackoff that thought that was actually a good idea.

I've heard before about something like that being a problem. But that really does suck, wow. I wanted to get the Mirror's Edge time trial levels, which right now can only be gotten on Origin, but it doesn't sound like it's worth that! Everyone can say what they want about Steam, but as far as DRM is concerned they are by far not just the lesser of evils but downright benevolent compared to pretty much every other DRM method other companies have concocted.

What gets my goat are companies who hold the rights to classic OOP games who refuse to sell on GOG because of their anti-DRM policy. I've read this is the reason LucasArts games aren't on GOG, which is dumb, as LA titles are some of the most easily and widely pirated games ANYWAY (largely because of their refusal to bring most of them back for retail) and seeing how well GOG games sell this could actually slow that problem down but LA it seems would rather be assholes, and stupid ones at that.

Wrong. The GOG version released without DRM from the start, since GOG is owned by CD Projekt. The other editions had because of a requirement by Namco Bandai who handled global distribution outside of GOG.
