Wonderful to see an orchestra actually "move" when it plays, especially after seeing overly controlled performances where the conductor is the "star" and the orchestra simply is a tool.

Incredible. These kids are a shining beacon of hope in a region plagued by corruption, poverty and crime. The entire continent and the world could learn something from the passion these kids show. If we each had the kind of passion in our individual fields these kids demonstrate in their music, the world would not only be a better place, but it would be a hopeful place. A place where we can't wait to see what other beautiful, incredible things we and our fellow passionate humans create.

Je ne suis pas sensible à un orchestre aussi tonitruant, alors que rien ne le justifie.Il y avait la très belle version "Erato" de Mravinsky, mais aucun chef n'aura exprimé la complexité de l'oeuvre aussi justement que Karajan dans sa version de 1966. Dudamel est jeune et tellement impulsif, qu'il passe bien souvent à côté de certaines de ses interprétations. Attendons quelques années.

there is some serious attention being paid to some of the inner voices here. the kind of thing you don't always hear in some seasoned orchestras.

@shostakov66 at least for the first movement it's my favorite. the second movement is pretty kick ass too.

I know what musicmann008 means about the Karajan. This version is wonderful, just wonderful. Maybe they can now piece it together in a single performance.
