This clip was the last of a few tests resulting in the main breaker tripping (this thing pulls a LOT of amps!)

Don't mess with HV transformers unless you know what you are doing!

  • Good lord.....I've played with some neon sign transformers (40 yrs ago)and got hit once - which stopped me from playing with them, but what you have has much larger windings. The color and buzz of the arc are scary enough. Take care. A hit from that might be a life-ender. Got a defib unit close by?

  • @jfdonnald cool!, a 40 year old NST would give a hell of a kick!, todays ones are under built and flimsy!.

I've been zapped by 12Kv NST and 50Kv flybacks and they give you some respect for HV, thats for sure!

even a MOT is a life ender, no defib unit would save sombody if they got shocked across the heart.

this transformer would never give you a second chance.

  • how do u no all this stuff

  • @scottaner500 years of experience and time in the industrial sector

  • who in thier right mind would design or evenuse a welder what uses high voltage?

  • @Tab54o its not a conventional welder that you use like a Mig. its a set of dies that clamp the material (when you push the start button) and fuse them together.

its like a conventional microwave. put food in, close door, then press start and wait till it beeps.

  • @Animebsd thats a cool idea. @aussie50 if you still got the rf transformer you should try it. It would be very interesting to see :)

  • @Tab54o WELL IT WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT IS HARD TO GET SAFER THINGS TO WORK; RE DEFIB IF NO SERIOUS FRYING HAS BEEN DONE THEN DEFIB WILL STILL WORK ; BEST TO BE CAREFUL AND NOT GO THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

  • Does that transformer be used for an electric chair?

  • presupun ca mama ta nu stie cu ce te joci

  • what would happen if you wired this transformer into a microwave to run the magnitron? you should try it!!
