In 1994, Atlanta had the highest violent crime rate in the nation, and it was young mothers and their children living in Atlanta's public housing projects who were at greatest risk. The drug trade terrorized neighborhoods, and the political and social systems marginalized and ignored residents.
Over the past decade, Atlanta Housing Authority has transformed the way it provides opportunities for affordable housing. AHA has worked to end concentrated poverty and create healthy, mixed-income communities where families of all incomes can thrive.
