Why? Contour Crafting is a construction technology that potentially reduces energy use and emissions by using a rapid-prototype or 3-D printing process to fabricate large components. Comprised of robotic arms and extrusion nozzles, a computer-controlled gantry system moves the nozzle back and forth, squeezing out layers of concrete or other material to fabricate a form. The ultimate goal is to print a house in a day while drastically reducing material and energy consumption.

  • @djjnuk I have never understood the fear of technological unemployment. It is inevitable to be honest. Over 70% of Americans now work in the Service industry, and the sad part of it all is that over 90% of their positions could be performed by machines. Do not fear technology, embrace it!

Now, you might be thinking "what will we all do if we don't work?" ... well how about live? Have you ever researched The Venus Project?

  • Thats what technology does. It helpes people.

  • C&C did this already 15 years ago

  • I wonder when comes the day where normal working day is 4 hours because the machines do enough to support good living standard anyway.

  • @depro9

i hope so because i am sick as fuck of working, lol. :-D

  • "you see there the first of a race of robots, mechanical men which will do the work of the human race." - Nikola Tesla

  • nice one !!!

  • @chrisknappER You rock !

  • @chrisknappER: AMEN. I want to live in a society that embraces technologies like this. The challenge of our century should be to free man from the work-to-live way of life.

  • @janosabel this might happen but there is potential for it to turn out in ways unimagined by those that are positive about technology assuming jobs. 1st of all, there is more than income- people in projects have been given access to shelter, food, and clothing, would you consider it a desirable replacement for a job which allows you to live in a real neighborhood? Smart technologists like scifi authors admit the unpleasant aspects of the future and becoming outmoded by robots has huge negative

  • @JacTrigga the issue is if you are displaced by automation and cannot retrain & find a job before having severe financial problems, then you will be discarded like a outdated computer chip. An abundance of primary goods(food, clothing, shelter) doesn't mean they are affordable in capitalism. Increased efficiency will go to the wealthiest, leaving mre and more trapped in concentrated areas of poverty.

  • @chrisknappER Best comment i've ever read, glad to see so many people support TVP
