Everybody, I just wanna say that this video is NOT...to offend anyone! I am simply trying to make a valid point about the old image that black people were labeled as back in the old days since slavery. I'm trying to point out the negativity of how white people use to classify what black people used to look like. The dolls that you see are disturbing...but they play a important role in the points that I'm trying to make and I hope people that watch this video understand where I'm coming from and why we should all be glad that this image was destroyed and abolished. So please leave some feedback about this topic and discuss your thoughts about the Classic BLACK image...

  • I agree that is it sad. Golliwogs in my opinion were created to form a idealistic view of racism or send a image to other of what racists felt an acceptable role should be. This was to try and prevent both blacks and whites ability to scope out the seriousness of racism and the potential that blacks had. It was also to prevent others from seeing the beauty within the black community. The same beauty that many racists tried to keep hidden with distorted images.

  • thank you! very well put indeed, its kinda sad that most of these dolls still exist though...

  • Those dolls NEED to exist... for all the people who try to act like Minstrel times and negative black media didn't exist.

It's a part of ALL of our history... Black history is American history.

Jazz is the ONLY true American musical art form and it was founded in the south on slave plantations...

    Great Vid

  • You got a point...This would be a excellent way to teach others about this especially ones who know nothing about it lol.

  • yo dude you seem to know alot about this stuff we covered the whole slavery nd shit in my history class and when i heard about golliwogs i thought it was just really racist but now... im not tryin to be cruel or anythin but is there any harm in a black doll? i mean i think they are pretty damn cool cool to be honest and like somebody came up with this idea that its "racist" but if it was wight no black people would say its racist. not bein mean just saying. what do you think?

  • I'm glad that you were educated about this topic but what exactually is it that you find "cool" about those dolls? Now in Retrospect, americans really do need to know that these Golliwog dolls exist because its the biggest proof in history that shows people what white americans thought about blacks and slaves.

  • The first word I thought of was "aunt".

  • at first when i seen the title of this video i thought it would be about how generalization of ignorant people look at hip hop and black people because well....some ppl depict the image of BLACK ppl as "thuggish" lookish as in baggy jeans and bling, violent, and rude gunslanging slangs outta they mouths and the video was ok....i dont think it was that effective but i understood what you meant. keep it up

  • interesting vid.i do think those dolls personify ignorance in some way.the big doll really looked like a black slave from the 1800s.and the little one was just.....stupid looking lol,but those dolls are not ugly and they do represent our history in some way,

  • Slavery, Mammy complex, whoever made that is probably racist that doll isn't even up to date

  • Those dolls and other objects with "blackface" are jus perfect examples of how white people viewed us at tha time...but to be honest they do it to themselves too... hell look at a brabie and ken doll, who really looks like that...
