The streets and squares of South Woodham Ferrers saw a passion with a difference on Good Friday morning, 2009.
"One Life ... One Passion" is street theatre in the tradition of the Medieval York Mystery Plays. It was performed in Market Square, Queen Elizabeth II Square and on the streets of the centre of South Woodham Ferrers (SWF), starting at 11am on Good Friday, 10 April 2009, in Market Square, SWF.
This is a Passion Play with many differences. A two thousand year old story, set in the country's newest Town, it has a modern interpretation.
It stared Kevin Walsh who has a string of stage and tv roles to his name, including appearances in: Guys n' Dolls, Jesus Christ Superstar, Eastenders, The Bill and Inspector Morse. This is a long, passionate way from his first major stage role as Romeo.
Peter Blackman, Director says: "We are using the natural features of our Town today to mirror what happened around 2000 years ago in Jerusalem, which was relatively about the same size and type of place for its day. Our local people are like theirs were. The crowd were out on the streets then, as they will be on this coming Good Friday. They did notice what's going on.
