I fight competition, professional training. I wear 14 gauge Plate mail and helm.
The plate, gamberson, helm, coif, spaulders, vambraces, gauntlets, full leg protection, buckler, long sword and dagger weigh around 40 kg. My 2 hander and axe is extra. Weight doesn't worry me as much as the heat. Plate mail is hotter.

the biggest disadvantage of chainmail is that is hangs from the shoulders and strains them, rather than evenly distributing the weight like plate armours

@EgholmViking butted chainmaill is crap riveted has been shown to stop cuts and most stabs as well as arrows, there are even accounts of it stopping lances while on horseback

If you break your ennemy arm or ribs with your mace, it don't matter how damaged is his chainmail.

chainmail is CRAP when stationary it is protecting against cuts and otherwise ment to "gently" make the other weapon glance of.. never do you want to rely on it to stop an actual hit.. and for the arrow.. well a chainmail to an arow is hust a bunch of holes.. however they are missing the padded vest under it wich makes it much easyer to be a warrior

LOL, they tally up the weight of the sword as 15 lbs... should be more like 3 lbs. Same with those mail gloves, those things probably weight a couple pounds, not 5
Only thing that looked right was the weight of the mail (which should be riveted not butted) and helmet together that came in around 20 lbs.
I still like watching these videos though :)
