In-Database MapReduce Example: Sessionize

Shawn Kung explains how the SQL/MapReduce (SQL/MR) function Sessionize is used to analyze Web click streams. Sessionize is a prepackaged SQL/MR function in Aster nCluster, a massively-parallel database system for data warehousing and analytics and the first database system to tightly integrate MapReduce with SQL. The sessionize function is popular among Aster Data System's web-based partners because it takes advantage of nCluster's massive parallelism to allow them to quickly analyze site usage with a single pass through the database.
