3/4/08 CAPITOL HILL (AP) -- Top U.S. military commander Admiral William Fallon tells a Senate committee there's been a dramatic drop in violence in Iraq. Specific problems are, the support given to violent extremist groups from Iran and Syria.
If we keep up the surge, we will break the back of extremism from Iran.

He stated that Fallon's reason for resigning centered on the controversy regarding a recent article in Esquire magazine which depicted him as openly criticizing the current Bush administration with specific regard to American policy towards Iran."
