Rio Grande City Youth Mentoring Program- Baseball camp 2009

In May of 2008, I founded the Rio Grande City Youth Mentoring Program. This is a student-run organization, whose members participate on a volunteer basis. This program advocates Latino Education and Recreation through different hands on activities and sharing of personal experiences. The goal of this program is to expose young latinos to opportunities of education past high school and to identify healthcare disparities that plague the latino people. This baseball camp was ran by students. All the events and activities are and will always be provided to the youth of Rio Grande City and Roma at no charge. We do not seek profit, we only seek the advancement of the latino people through hard work and education. Food and beverages were provided by generous sponsors. I thank everyone that has helped us. Let us keep moving forward.

Hey, I received your email on fb about this. I just wanted to tell you that I applaud what you are doing with our youngsters in the valley and would really like to see it spread to the Hidalgo County. I'm from La Joya and I know that with a program similar to this one we can keep our kid off the streets and into higher education. Let me know if there is anything I can help with to make this a reality. There are a bunch of us, Ags, from that area that would love to start this in our community!
