A local event here in San Diego put on by Calafia (Covenant of the Goddess) once a year for Beltane. I didn't record the ritual on the dancing of the May Pole. I hope you enjoy!

  • wonderful, i wish i was there :)

  • about the may pole dancing...i'm from austria and maybe you know it (probably not) but our traditional dance is called "schuhplattler" and there is this dance called "bandltanz"...it's basically the same as this one just that it's one of our traditions watch?v=B0V5YnlTXyU&feature=related

  • This looks like a lot of fun! :) I attempted to dance around a may pole once and we were all so unorganized {it could have been too much may wine and mead too!} that a few of us almost got tangled up. Next time I will just watch. ;)

  • Good vid, and thanks for posting a history of our day that may be viewed 100 years from now. However, the irony (or contradiction) is too much to not comment on. Or perhaps Nature herself would refer to it as insanity, because this is a celebration of White European traditions, specifically a fertility dance, yet the white birth rate throughout the world is now at below replacement levels. Get the irony? What's the point if babies aren't being made, which is what Nature is all about?
