www.playWinningBaseball.com. Many infielders (at all ages) don't receive nearly enough practice with pop ups to the infield. Especially difficult fly balls. This drill can be used in a series of infield drills at practice or as a stand alone drill to provide valuable repetitions making this often difficult play. As with all drills, the fly ball drill can be modified to meet your specific needs, age group, or skill level. One key is to make sure the fielder completes the drill by making the catch moving towards the infield (if possible) and getting immediately into a throwing or "Power Position." This way they are always ready to make the next throw and never get caught off guard when a base runner tags up.
