  • I'd like to ask a question: is it good to have a deep divot or just a shallow divot?

  • @vinzdevency Shallow divot is best.

  • Light-bulb just clicked on! Thanks so much.

  • @hogluvr1 Have you had any luck with my tip?

  • what about hitting an iron off the tee?

  • hello check out my swing on my channel after taking your advice! THANK YOU

  • Hello Mark great video as always but i've got a question relating to this video. As well as what you have explained about topping a ball would raising your head on the downswing also cause you to top the ball as it would obviously change the tragectory of the downswing. Friends i play with have said my head rises as if i try to straightn my posture on my downswing, is there any advice you can give to maintaining posture throught the entire swing thus keeping my head in a neutral position, thanks

  • Hey buddy

really love your videos....i have a question in golf courses i see divots always on fairway and they are like 3 to 4 inches long (after the ball) i take out divots as well but min eis 1/2 inch or 1 inch max....so whats the secret behind that

    Thanks again

  • Your videos are really helpful and you explain the concepts very well!!

    Thanks again!!

  • Is it particularly bad to be a sweeper? I know Tom Watson has called himself a sweeper in the past. I was wondering what the pros and cons of being a down-and-through striker is vs. a sweeper?

  • To me it seems there are two reasons to hit down on the ball: 1) it increases the margin of error in swinging fat or thin (being too high or too low relative to the ball). There is nothing in the way -- no ground to bounce off of or to have to avoid. Hitting level suffices for this. 2) Hitting down lessens the chance grass will come between the club and the ball. The second concern seems more important to me.

  • I see so many people saying golfers should "hit down" on the ball. Most include no scientific explanation of why. I see that hitting on the upswing will more likely produce topping or skulling, but wouldn't hitting near level also result in the most head-centered shot?

  • Topping was my big problem caused by not holding left wrist hinge and lifting upper body up coming into impact. Mostly fixed this by: thinking of shoulder rotation like a clock face-at top of swing L)shoulder is on 6 and R) is 12, swing down to impact and thru so R) is on 6 and L) 12. Also keep L) wrist cocked longer than you think; it will release naturally just prior impact to give that whip action. I was scared of hitting the ground so practiced making divots by hitting weeds & daisies.

  • A good way to think of it, is imagine the bottom of your swing just in front of the ball. Trying to make contact with the ball as close to the bottom of your swing, without making contact at or after the bottom of your swing.
