@sean98gsx I am a current CHL in the Ft. Worth area so i have this advice for you. If you are 19, you are only allowed to have a long gun in your vehicle while travelling. And in most cases you have to be travelling to/from a gunshow, range or hunting trip. So that mostly takes that out of the defense equation. Also, In Tx you must be 21 to purchase and carry/travel/conceal a handgun. I would highly suggest consciously keeping yourself out of any unfriendly situations until your 21st. It.....

@sean98gsx As of right now, state law says you have to be 21 to get a CHL. However, I believe you are still allowed to have a gun concealed in your vehicle since texas expanded the official definition of "traveling" in the last few years. Texas has always allowed you to have a weapon on you while traveling, but the definition of traveling has been arbitrary from county to county and even city to city. Now it's anytime you're behind the wheel. It MUST be concealed though.

@sean98gsx There are some Law enforcement officers that will try to blow smoke about it has to be out of your reach and/or unloaded. The recent supreme court decision basically blew that out of the water. It is possible you will run into some knucklehead cop that will arrest you, but you will likely beat the charge in court. Keep in mind that I am not a lawyer. Keep in mind that I am not a lawyer and what I tell you should not be construed as legal advice.
