For lack of a better title, "It's Not What You Are on the Outside That Matters," sung by the ever-so-lovable Otis the toad, voiced by none other than Jim Cummings!!

Sorry, no spiffy transitions and multiple angles for this video. Hector is EXTREMELY fragile, so I only let him run for about 5-10 minutes at a time. Any longer and his motors start sticking, and he starts to smell like smoke. Yikes! And before anyone asks, yes, I do plan on getting both him and Mother Goose fixed in the future. Not that MG really needs it or anything, it's just that she's a lip smacker, which is a common problem for WoW talking toys, and it gets kinda annoying after a while. ^^'

  • You speak of this 'lip smacking' issue with Mother Goose, and you mention you have other toys that have the same problem. I've noticed with my copy of The Airship Teddy Ruxpin's mouth moves when it's not meant to, but it always happens at the same points in the story, my best friend has observed the same thing with his Teddy Ruxpin, we both think it's the coding on the tape and not the Teddy Ruxpin, we both think WOW improved the coding as time passed, do you notice this on your other goose?

  • @Lachlant1984 Hmm, that's interesting. From what I've observed with my toys, it happens at random; not a specific point of the tape (unless the tape itself is damaged). My other goose's movements are perfect with the tape. You're definitely right about the coding of the tapes improving over time, though. I've noticed that on some of the later tapes that the movements do seem a lot more fluid than just simply "mouth open, mouth closed." Note Grubby's little *gulp* in Looking Back At Me at 1:08.

  • On the advert it says that Hector is the ugly duckling but how can that be when he's so cute. I thought ur mother goose worked fine but u better fix ur Hector before it catches on fire lol

  • well i noticed when i taped a few teddy ruxpin tapes on one tape , the animation still worked i think i turned the balance down on one speaker on my hi fi ,and recorded it ,i used it a few times i think i may still have the tape somewhere, would that be silly to say or has this been done

  • @blueoctopede That's most odd, maybe you just tried it and it was a coincidence that your Teddy Ruxpin shorted out or something, who knows, but best to play it safe and not do it again as you suggested. I understand the tapes for Mother Goose Snoopy and Mickey Mouse have a key code on them to prevent the tape from being used in the wrong toy, the key code os part of the PPM data track that controls the animations, I understand the Teddy Ruxpin tapes don't have this key/security code.

  • @blueoctopede

    Ah ah ah!!!! xD xD

    It's possible!!!

  • @astromariopion Oh no!!! That's so funny that they would put the animations for Grubby in a tape where he doesn't talk, but forget to put them in when he -does- talk! You said there weren't many tapes in Italian though, right? Maybe that was the last one they made and some of the tapes were defective, or they were in a rush and just forgot.... Who knows xD

  • @blueoctopede

Infact it wasn't necessary because Teddy songs alone! In italian version of "The faded fobs", there is Grubby's signal only at the start of the story!

    XD

And after the first song he doesn't move! He play music when he must speak, but he does't move!

    Orrible!!!!!!!

  • @astromariopion Wow!! Yeah, I don't know why there aren't signals for Grubby in the English Lullabies. Maybe they thought it wasn't necessary? I haven't tried Lullabies 2, though...

  • @blueoctopede

    Really? O.o

I tried to connect Grubby to Teddy while playing italian Lullabies: Grubby moves the eyes, and he play sound with Teddy! Grubby mouth obviously doesn't move, but I think that in italian Lullabies version there is also the signal for Grubby!
