Tragically, Mel was supposedly killed suddenly in a plane crash over the Bahamas. There is much speculation that Mel will in fact be back for OLTL's 40th anniversary, in spirit if not in the flesh. If I have the opportunity I will show more highlights from their romance.

Added on 6.10.08 (Source is Soap Opera Network, regarding the 40th anniversary):
While Jessica Tuck (edited to indicate not appearing), Mark Derwin, Phil Carey, and Agnes Nixon are reportedly returning for only two episodes (July 21-22), the returns of Stephen Markle and John Loprieno are expected to last awhile longer. Markle first appears as Mel's spirit on June 30th, when he pays Dorian a visit. (NOTE: Mel "spirit" made himself known through Madame Delphina during the 6.30.08 episode. Markle's appearance will be later this month.) Loprieno is rumored to first air in early July.

Dorian's favorite psychic Madame Delphina returns to give the Cramer women some surprising insight into their futures on the June 30th and July 1st episodes. Lea DeLaria originated the role of Madame Delphina in 1999.

  • Very well put.

  • RJ was wonderful with Dorian. I enjoyed their relationship quite a bit. I miss RJ and Mel. This is one of my favorite scenes and I cried when it aired.

  • *only love. :)

Wow, that was impacting. The transition from denial to acceptance of the truth was done very well, too. The way that RJ handled the situation and served as a gateway between delusion and reality made it seem even more real.

  • oh my god, that was a scene i always wanted to watch again, truly heart-breaking, dorian accepting mel's death. i always thought mel was dorian's biggest love.
