if this rumor turns out to be true (which i sincerely doubt it is) i can't imagine gamestop / gamefly/ best buy/ blockbuster-dish network/ etc/ would allow such a thing to happen..most likely in the form of a giant check$. besides as backwards as it sounds nobody would want to develop for it (exclusively) because everyone would just buy PS4 instead.

I agree completely man, I'm a retro gamer too. To me, the last time I cared about gaming was the PS2 generation. Everything after that(PS3, Xbox360) I could care less. I do not support the current gen systems nor will I support the next gen systems. Oldschool games FTW!!
