A great guitar-driven rocker from 1958. Jimmy (Jimmie) Lloyd, aka. Jimmy Logsdon, singing "You're Gone Baby". Only 28 seconds into the song and it's into a blistering guitar break.

Check out that song title at 1:00 in the video!

  • My Father was Jimmy Logsdon. I do remember when I was very young he wrote Hank Williams sings the Blues no more. It was the morning that my Dad found out about his death. He is greatly missed.

  • Thanks for the comment, and a pleasure to meet you marylee. Your father left a great musical legacy.

  • The pride of Panther, Ky. Sure miss the ole boy, worked with him around Cincinnati in the late 60's and early 70's at WZIP and WCLU. Jimmy started singing in Louisville with his sisters in the early 50's where heworked at WKLO before coming to WCKY to do the ole Jamboree. He cut some minor hits for Decca "The Death of Hank Williams" and also King records including "Truck driving daddy"

    Little James L, RIP

  • Many thanks for the info, I didn't know any of that.

  • Although I am sure that Grady Martin plays lead guitar on "Where The Rio De Rosa Flows", the lead guitar on this sounds more like Hank Garland, but I wouldn't want to place a bet on it.

  • marylee246, I'm sure you recall the use of "I've Got A Rocket In My Pocket" for the Gordon Cooper introductory scene in "The Right Stuff." It is one of my all time favorite songs and so appropos for Gordo's entrance into the film. Your Daddy was awesome and will always be missed. Hope you are well and happy. - Joe in Knoxville

  • @MrCleanRunner2 Seems to go that way :)

  • @jarirusi

Wouldn't you know! Whenever I hear a really hot guitar on a 50s rockabilly record, it always turns out to be Grady Martin! :) What a legend. And what a dream team.

  • I don't know enough about these recordings to know whether Mr Whited is playing. If he is, he's one helluva guitar player. One of the best guitar-driven songs know.
