@teas781 Only half true - not full Chinese thinking. There's Confucianism, Legalism, Mo-ism, etc. theories in ancient China but most important is Taoism (which combined with Buddhism to create "Zen"). Taosim is Nature/Natural Philosphy. Eg, in Chinese painting, emptiness and nature dominate, not humans, unlike Western paintings, always celebrating Man-Theory. It's good to balance both, Theory and Philosophy, like Ying & Yang, which is Taoism, the base of Chinese thinking.

@teas781 This is a Taoist question - if it didn't matter for 島国, why repeat over and over again with such pride? Whenever some Japanese want to remind China to be humble, they tell this story. Chinese secretly laughing while pretending to Japanese we're offended, so you continue to be proud of stupid story...that's the truth. It only makes Japan look petty. Truth is, many, many more important things matter to China. Move on already.

@LeninMarxMao The particular sense of "Confucianism" doesn't matter nor interst for Japan from old days.

It was clear "living way & sense is different".

* Chinese: philosopher, thinker, theorist (resemble to some Westerner)

* Japanese: very realist with the nature, enjoy the life

(Korean: need bigger existence to live with?)

(Mongol: proudful to live by all own power?)

I felt "Chinese taste & sense resemble to the Westerner" somehow. It may be because the above difference.

@teas781 I admire Japan for spirit to learn from the goods things of others, unlike Koreans that think they are best in the world. This is the way to push yourself to be better, Chinese say "Proud people will fail". The West has Machiavelli, China has Sun Tze. If Japan followed Sun Tze, it won't be proud of such a letter - it is bad diplomacy & political strategy. You know story of QianLong Emperor sent arrogant letter to British? Chinese take that as lesson, opposite from Japanese.

It didn't matter for the then 島国 either "How the land makes a society with its way & ethnics there", but it seemed "including 島国", so went to tell it. "Please do it inside the land only".

Going to tell it with the clear words was the very essencial thing for 島国 = the essencial identity carried over naturally to live next days.

@teas781 You like old China (actually, there is more impt literature Japanese not aware of), which is great, all also precious to Chinese but China wants to do more for present and future. Please, Japan, play a good role in history and stop war and hostile talk with China. You are not childish like Koreans, eg. look at Koreans hating Chinese on Youtube. China will always exist with its neighbors so better to be positive and try to work out a way for peace.

@LeninMarxMao It is good the world, like Japan & Korea, underestimate China, so China can do everything in peace. But USA thinks China is biggest threat to US world domination & uses Japan and Korea to make trouble for China when China is not interested - it knows it is multi-polar world. This is real story of present.

All Chinese hope there's peace in future to continue strong development to end poverty, develop science, art, new culture, etc. If China is not obstructed by other powers, it can make more positive contribution to the world. eg. China build hydro engineering for Libya dessert farming but bombed by USA.. NATO.
