  • @WhiplashFreak umm...actually that is a storm sewer line under a highway, and a large one at that. it is more likely there was a torrential rainstorm that overwhelmed the drainage line and caused a sudden, and violent, eruption as a result of too much water all at once

I have seen it happen before

  • Welcome to splash world!

  • 0:33 u ohhh

  • Poseidon smash !!

  • CIVIL ENGINEERING FAIL

  • Not a Water Main break. This is a storm water sewer. The reason this happened is because there is so much water runoff going into the pipe, because of the heavy rain, that the diameter of the pipe cannot handle the amount of water flowing through it. Storm sewers are open to the atmosphere and therefore are not pressurized. Once the pipe fills to the top pressure builds and that pressure causes the manhole to fly off and the water to "explode" out.

  • This is a storm sewer blowing out not a water main. Should be interesting ti hear how he explained to the insurance agent.

  • It took me a while to realize the huge gaping hole in the median.

  • That will be a good one to tell the insurance company.

  • A water main break does not stop until the valves for it are shut down. If that was an actual water main(potable water) that geyser you saw would not have stopped due to constant water pressure from the main. Most likely it is a forced main, sanitary or storm, i do not know which. In which case, your centrifuge pumps will kick on causing the inner chamber main walls to pressurize and then geyser. de-pressurizing when the pumps turn off. as seen in this video.
