  • Just so all viewers know - this MS170's piston burned up. It was a freak thing and the dealer can't figure out why. I made a little deal and I have replaced this 170 with a Stihl MS211.

I have a couple of videos with the 211. Check them out! :)

  • nice saw, Do you recemend it?

    Great video 5/5 -Jaycob

  • Thanks! :)

Yeah I recommend it. It's mainly because of how inexpensive it is. For such a small saw it really does rip.

You just can't push on it, it doesn't have very much torque.

  • I bought my saw (MS170) back in June 2009 for $180 plus tax so you got a really good deal on your saw.

  • Do you like running it??

It's so nice to have a light saw like the MS170. Not a ton of power but man is it ever light....

  • Lol....

I hesitate a bit in the beginning. My dogs were barking and staring at something, I was checking it out as I started the video....

  • I've got a MS-170 given to me by a friend, who couldn't get it started. Looks in very good shape, but I can't get it going either. I put a new plug in, and have a solid spark. Would really like to get it going..

  • @heffo1992 you Sir are a fool.......read the the very first question in Stihl's FAQ:

  • I have a 8 year old ms170 and its been great. Its funny because I've got an 028, 044, 357xp and a 372xp and the 170 is the first saw I grab if what i'm cutting is under 10 inches. Its very nice how light it is so you can use it all day and not get tired. Mine has had fairly heavy use over the years too and its still holding up just fine which is a suprise for such a cheap low end saw.

  • what would you price a fairly used but in good condition 170 for?

  • What mods did you have planned for the muffler?

  • my buddy has on and a 60 cc stihl idk the model but the ms 170 get the job done. cut some big trees with it

  • They pronounce Stihl still not steel.

  • Is it made in Germany or USA? Or is it more like made by LeeLong?

  • is it an german produckt???
