Agricultural Icon Mural, Colquitt, GA
Charlie Johston, Muralist
Colquitt, The Colquitt/Miller Arts Council, and the Mural Committee are very
excited about it's newest addition to the Millenium Mural Project. The Agricultural Icon mural covers all four sides of the 27,000 sq. ft. peanut silo located behind Cotton Hal Theater. The mural depicts a hardworking peanut farmer tending his crops—representing the everyman farmer and the dependence of our area on agriculture. The work is projected to be complete by the end of this year! A The Colquitt-Miller Arts Council extends a huge THANK YOU to Birdsong Peanuts for granting us use of the silo!

This is a powerful image. It looks like a peanut farmer at the very moment of examining the first fruits to determine how much of a crop he will get this year. And he is -- as farmers always are -- worried about everything that might go wrong.
