  • I will race you. I race SCCA almost every weekend. I know drifting Is slower in a race but you have to be able to control your car in any situation. Not to mention drifting or "power sliding" (as many have put it) is fun!

Top Comments

  • Front-wheel-drive cars cannot drift. They can slide, but it can't be maintained through a slide reversal, nor can speed be maintained through it, since hitting the gas will instantly pull the rear into line on any dry track. Sliding is fun as hell, but drifting it ain't.

    And for anyone who thinks I'm hating on imports/FWD/mazdas/whatever, I drive a car identical to the one in this video. \/:)\/

  • FWD = powersliding

    RWD= drifting....

    i drive a FWD car. its fun to slide but its not easy keepin up with someone drifting

  • Drifting is not powersliding. Its controlled oversteer. And if you dont know what oversteer is, its when the rear wheels have more of a slip angle than the front wheels.

  • nice car !

  • @juggaloby420

    Not even close. FWD = handbrake turn/loss of traction.

    RWD = drifting.

    AWD = powersliding...

  • Drifting is actually controlled "oversteering". Not controlled sliding thats too vague. So your all wrong!! Haha

  • When I read the title of this video I knew there would be a heated debate about "FWD can't drift." We all get it, in a FWD car you can't smoke the rear tires and maintain the slide by adding gas. Let's just agree on that and get on with our lives.

  • Okay, drifting is breaking the tire traction limit and putting the car into a controlled skid. You CAN technically drift with FWD.

  • Did anybody tell this driver that when you have no traction on the wheels you have almost no control of the car? I would race anyone who likes to drift. Drifting is just for show. In reality you loose in a race doing that.

  • They are the same thing Power-sliding is the European term.

  • @juggaloby420 You're wrong. RWD = powersliding. Hence the 'power' inducing the slide.

    You have to initiate the slide by taking the weight off the rear wheels by hitting the brakes while turning, or using the ebrake. Alternatively you can use the Scandinavian flick and unsettle the balance of the car.

    FWD = Sliding

    RWD = Powersliding&Drifting.

    Very different things.
