ToBeScene has videotaped a lot of reunion shows over the past 2 years, mainly late 1970's Toronto punk bands. In November 2007, however, we were fortunate enough to record an extremely rare performance of two bands in one shot. This time we went back to the early 1970's and revisted Canada's underground psychedelic era. We're referring to Reign Ghost and Christmas, both headed by former Forgotten Rebels' producer Bob Bryden. Hamilton had Simply Saucer and Oshawa, just east of Toronto, had Bryden's two bands. All these bands have seen a resurgence of interest in the past 5 to 10 years, garnering a new generation of fans. In particular, the demand for original Christmas vinyl records is extremely high, with one album recently having been sold on Ebay for $2000! For this show Bryden was backed up by Toronto's Saffron Sect and the performance was enhanced with a wickedly cool light show created by Dan Zen. The following video is an excerpt of the DVD single "Bustin' Out Tonight" that was produced by ToBeScene and Bryden. Special mention goes to Jordan Abraham for the live audio mix and to Liz Worth for the fine job she did operating one of the cameras. Liz will soon be publishing her book about the 1970's Toronto punk scene on Bongo Beat Records.
