American K-12 education: sub-par.

American four year universities: Brilliant.

This is sad because for students to reach the higher level of education in our system, they have to excel at an early age, yet our system of education from K-12 is very weak. However there is no doubt that America has a lot of opportunities.

@Emericaskaterx U.S. education is nothing like Taiwan's. We need a bit of that Taiwan-style memorizing and academic discipline. Our education produces idiots, not because we don't ask children to think, but because we emphasize too much the concepts of freedom and equality. Students, we think, should be free to think how they wish and all of their ideas should be treated equally no matter how stupid they are. "They all have knowledge" That is a joke! They know nothing except their navels.

Don't take the kid out of school. You really think memorizing information will do harm? I teach high school in the U.S., and I can tell you that not only are most of our students unable to memorize anything, but also their critical thinking skills suck way worse than the FOB Asians who arrive here as teens.

Worst case scenerio: the boy memorizes facts in school, and you teach him to think about them at home.

In Germany you'll never get all the points you can get by simply writing down the memorized stuff, you've always got to do something yourself...well at least that's what it's like in my school, never went to some other school actually...(except elementary school)

America teaches like that to which explains why some kids that get straight A's are still stupid as a rock since they have no common sense... they have all the knowledge just don't know how to use it correctly.

there are people in bulgaria that do that thing too but they are not related to any asians its just a thing that was passed from generations to generations mostly people in the mountians though. weird!
