I love this movie because its not all romance. Its romance, action, adventure, brutality, and a kick-ass story. 10x better than all those shitty romance-comedy movies out now, this movie had soul.

One good thing about many "kids movies" from the 1980s was that the studio executives and filmmakers didn't feel that they all had to have kids in them to appeal to kids. And many of the "teen movies" actually had strong messages and didn't do all too much pandering to stupidity, mindlessness and superficiality, as we see today in movies directed toward teens.
