Brief illustration of illegal delivery industry service model in action.

Dovercourt Road above Dundas Street in TORONTO. If Mayor Ford and the new City Council fail to act, what will the courts decide?

  • Maybe we can all the goods "teleported" to their destination..... wake up!!

  • Thanks Cliffy. I have forwarded your suggestions to the good people at CANADA POST in Ottawa. No doubt they will be interested in such an imaginative employee's teleportation and "pony express" ideas. I was a postman in the sixties and later worked moving freight in the most congested neighbourhoods in TORONTO for 25 years. I've never driven a car let alone a truck, so I've never parked on the sidewalk either. Discuss this problem seriously, fine. If not, have yet another beer, eh?

  • I don't see nothing wrong with this, Yes they are on the sidewalk a little bit, But what should they do? block the whole street? I can clearly see they made space for pedestrians to get by,as allowing traffic to go by, I dont see anyone having to walk on the road or force drivers to drive on the sidewalk so how is this a problem? Maybe you should get a job yourself and see if you do everything the right way. Then have someone video tape it when you screw up... and yes you will screw up!

  • @Earssss And an illegal service model that puts pedestrians and cyclists at unnecessary risk.

  • @HOOFandCYCLE ,well times have changed in 30 years,, we have vans now

  • @Earssss I used to work for Canada Post. But that was a long time ago. I worked in the private delivery industry for 25 years. One is just as misguided as the other.

  • @HOOFandCYCLE ,,, do you work for cpc??? if not ,, how would u know what is in that van??? that van is full from floor to ceiling with at least 80 parcels and numerous bags of mail,,, you are making a big issue out of nothing,,,, you seem to think there is 2 letters in this van,, you have no idea,, and yes it is the right vehicle for the job,,, you think any delivery company the size of canada post can use a prius,, do not think so,,,

  • @Earssss That's one way of looking at it. Another is that CANADA POST is using the wrong equipment/vehicle to do the job in crowded urban neighbourhoods and the only reason they get away with it is because the City of TORONTO or staff thereof turn a blind eye to CP's illegal service model.

Of course CANADA POST blames the drivers and says they discipline them accordingly if such encroachment parking occurs on the job. Sorry for cutting and pasting this response but what the heck, eh?
