A sample of the first phrases to be uttered by my latest creation, the Plant Whisperer. This device attaches onto a potted plant and monitors the soil moisture. Every two hours it wakes up and reports the status. It recognizes the soil as being too dry, just right, or too wet - and chooses a phrase from a list to report the status.
The Plant Whisperer is using real-time text-to-speech synthesis on a Parallax Propeller microcontroller. The code is still a little rough (as you can clearly hear) With some tweaking of the phrases its possible to make them clearer.
