Two Weekends...Two Short Films

In this week's videolog I talk about my experience over the last two weekends acting as Assistant Director on "Playing Games", a T to the T production film. It was my first time ADing in awhile and I think my friend Addison said it best when he said to be an AD you have to be the hated on set and hate yourself. If you are not looking stressed out then you're not doing your job. The film is a modern retelling of David and Goliath set in a hyper-stylized kitchen setting. Really cool and I know it'll turn out good. Jasmin and I also collaborated together on "The Biggest Beatles Fan Ever!!"

And, of course, last weekend we finally shot my short film entitled "Silent Heart" which is the story of a hearing impaired dancer and an unmotivated violinist that find inspiration in each other. It was a long shoot that ended at 5am but it was a fun shoot and I'm excited to see what happens with the film.

I show a lot of on set photography from the 3-day shoot as I begin to discuss how it all went down. In-depth behind the scenes will be coming soon but for now I give a taste of how the shoot happened. I'm really excited and nervous to see what the footage looks like when we pick up the film this Friday from Fotokem. It was interesting shooting on film. It limited our takes and the length of the takes we could do but really forced us to focus our shots on what we absolutely needed. I still prefer to shoot digital for now but there's something special about hearing that clicking sound as the film records that really legitimizes the experience.
