A Vancouver-based television program about Sikh Spirituality. In this episode:

Sikhism teaches us to look upon pleasure and pain alike. But what does that mean? What are the different types of pains that we can experience? And why do we have to experience both pleasure and pain in life? In this episode, these questions about Dukh and Sukh (pleasure and pain) are answered from a Sikh perspective.

  • I've been living sikh lifestyle since I born 37 years ago, I have never thought in my wildest dreams to cut my hairs. But I do have some concerns which make me feel embarassed. I can't play football or any other field game with Turban on. I do not like to wear "Patka". Please offer some thoughts or pratices to play field games like every other person. Now my kids are growing up and really need some help so I feel confident bofore giving them any advise.

  • there are many types of "keski" or "small dumalla" or "gol dastar" you could tie search for them on youtube.

lots of amritdharis regularly play field sports. i played Rugby at a high level in a local side with all goray. you have to be confident, positive & in chardhi kalaa & be who you are, feel comfortable in your own skin & everything will be ok. my dastar has sometimes come off when i was in a "scrum" but so what? we're sikh & proud!

  • isnt all religion wonderfull one god one love

  • No pain no gain. You cannot know pleasure unless you know pain. I guess that's one reason we are on earth.

  • @sh1jds7 Do martial arts. Having long hair in martial arts is no problem.

  • wahe guru bless from costa rica

  • I grew up in US and I played football for my high school with my patka on so sir its not embarrassing or shameful dont be negative with patka i have even played soccer for high school

If you think people are starring at you then yes they are but if you play like an athlete you will be the talk of the town or a best player in your team.
